The Year Past - The Year Ahead...

OUR RECENT ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The year ended has seen a period of community building amongst club members, especially through our weekly, Mortdale Player Nights.
We have 46 members in 2025. Our Mortdale Player Nights ran weekly throughout the year. They have been a mainstay of the club, providing opportunities for performance and session playing. We saw attendances ranging from 12 through 28. Over the year we held concerts, featuring - Rufous Whistler, Marco and Rusty, Steve Turner, Jimmy Crowley and Eve Telford and two very successful members’ concerts. A November bush dance featuring Ryebuck was a great night of music and dance. Our December members’ gathering, held at the home of Mark and Cathy Wilkes, was well attended. We heard music from many club members.
We have elected a new committee to serve the club for the year coming. We welcome Shelley Clements and continuing committee members, Harry Aizenberg, Mark Huon and Mark Wilkes.
Mark Wilkes will continue as President and Treasurer, and Harry continues as Secretary and takes on the role as Vice President. Our new committee looks forward to the year ahead.
With the change to our committee for the year ahead, I want to express my thanks to our committee members stepping down. Thank you to John Bidewell, Matt Allison, Peter Phelps, Philip Wyllie and Steve Shootingstar.
I want to express my special thanks to Peter Phelps who has served the club over many years and has provided considerable advice and wisdom in the running of a folk club. Peter has provided a wise sounding board to many decisions I have made in the past few years.
Many visitors and performers who visit our club comment on the number of people assisting in the running of our events. We have a very wide membership providing support in many roles in the events we hold throughout the year. Thank you to you all.
We have recorded another year with a financial surplus. Our records are available to any member upon request.
Thank you to all members for your support over the past year. You are now part of one of the most active folk clubs in Sydney. Congratulations!
