Cate Taylor is an award-winning, indie-folk songwriter from Naarm (Melbourne), performing delicately crafted material with voice, guitar and mandolin. Two albums to her name and a reputation for being a highly artful songwriter, winning the Roddy Read songwriting competition in 2022 and having other compositions shortlisted for awards in 2023 and 2024.
Amla is a captivating multi-instrumentalist - flautist, violinist & vocalist. Informed by her classical background in flute and years of performance experience.
Together they form the contemporary folk duo, Wattle Lane, building on their strengths to forge new ones with a flare and love of story-telling and audience participation. They bring audiences a collection of moving songs that reflect social, personal and environmental themes delivered through stories, ballads and upbeat tunes in a contemporary folk genre but veering on occasion into a traditional folk sound.
They offer an original sound with a mix of interesting songs ranging from quiet to uplifting with strong, current and relatable themes.
Audiences regularly comment on enjoying their on-stage rapport, as well as their material and performance.
